I did interpret "I have disabled Ubuntu from requiring my password after the screen turns off" as automatic login/no password. Maybe that's incorrect.
So a few questions: 1. Does your login have a password and/or is it configured for automatic login? 2. Is the dock ("taskbar") visible on the "landing page"? 3. Does re-locking (Super+L) and re-unlocking the system get around the problem? 4. Please run 'apport-collect 1809517' to send us more information about the system. ** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1740792 Automatic login still requires user password after suspend/hibernate ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags added: cosmic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1809517 Title: OS freezes after screen turns off and I return to account Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I recently upgraded to the newest 18.10 I have disabled Ubuntu from requiring my password after the screen turns off due to inactivity but I'm still taken to the landing page as if I needed to unlock my computer.
