That's fantastic, thanks for attending to it! I'll miss ctrl-enter, but ctrl-shift-enter is a perfectly reasonably compromise. :-)
I filed bug #1490138 for the search bar (hopefully I got the details right). I probably won't bother making a new extension just for the about:config pref.
