+1. I'm also affected by the same bug, after moving from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS using upgrade process driven by update manager.
Thumbnails of files was visible under 16.04 LTS. Those thumbnails of files are not visible any more under 18.04 LTS after upgrading.
