Title:
after the screensave kicks in, I am not able to write to any firefox
text box (like the addressbar) or a filed in a web site I am visiting
  (to post a login, etc)

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

it usually happens when the screensaver kicks in (floating ubuntu,
three times now), but I am not sure how they could be related... it
does not look like it takes resources or anything, but I also do not
know what else would be missing or unresponsive from this glitch...
the mouse keeps working, to have a fully functional firefox I have to
kill X (ctrl+alt+bkspc) or reboot... google-chrome is not affected so
it is still running smoothly at the same time
