Mouse stops responding in Firefox and then interrupts all mouse usage

After loading Firefox, an external USB mouse (Logitech wireless) stop
responding to clicks. The motion works fine, but right/left clicks
stop working. Additionally, even after the external mouse is
disconnected, the builtin trackpad doesn't function with the same
symptoms.
