Hello Sadi, Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with number of new messages in Thunderbird. You made this bug report in 2013 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.
Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket? If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to this bug? If you are, could you run the following (only once): apport-collect 1251215 and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. So I removed the Messaging Indicator altogether as it would be a duplicate of Thunderbird icon in the Unity Launcher, having seen that it also displayed new messages received. However, sometimes I don't see any number being shown after hearing the new message notification sound (and also seeing the notification message as well). And sometimes the number displayed on the icon doesn't accurately reflect the number of messages received.
