But then, when I started working I came across a problem- the @ and " keys on the keyboard are switched around. So I added the South African keyboard layout and selected that one. But when I restart, it defaults back to the UK keyboard. so I went into preferences and delete UK keyboard, but when I restart its back, and selected by default.
