Title:
Layout of desktop symlinks not saved across reboots

Status in Nautilus:
  Expired
Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gdm

Can't seem to find a duplicate of this one.

9.10 upgrade from 9.04. Worked before upgrade.

I'm not sure if it is gdm that positions and saves icon layouts, but
  it's close. :)

The positioning of icons of types application/x-desktop and various
kinds of files is saved across reboot. But ones of type "Link to
folder (inode/directory)" are not. They reset to the position they
were originally in after the upgrade, all shoved over to the left half
  of the screen.
