The Gnome devs in their arrogance and "wisdom" have given gnome-mines the same lack of visibility as everything else in the Gnome Desktop. People are starting to use displays that can show over a billion colours and the Gnome devs are trying to make everything entirely grey-and- slightly-darker-grey with no outline. It's awful, and, in this case, makes the application effectively unusable.
