Curious. I can't reproduce this problem with artful today. Everything
works better and I can't see what if any relevant packages changed.

Bug description:
Stuck on a black screen after logging out of Gnome Shell.
Logging in via ssh shows gnome-shell is no longer running. But if I
press Ctrl+Alt+F7 then the login screen (unity-greeter) comes up (and
the login sound plays).
