I'm using libreoffice 5.1.6.2
(Build ID: 1:5.1.6~rc2-0ubuntu1~xenial2
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group)
on Ubuntu 16.04 and I'm getting exactly the same error.

However:

When I run libreoffice from appimage
(Version: 5.3.0.3
Build ID: 7074905676c47b82bbcfbea1aeefc84afe1c50e1
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default; VCL: gtk2; Layout
Engine: new;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group)

then it works fine!

** Changed in: libreoffice (Ubuntu)

Title:
  General Input/Output error with Google Drive

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  This is a problem with Libreoffice Writer, but for some reason it
  didn't allow me to set that as package (libreoffice-writer)

  When adding a Google Drive service, before it can show the remote files it
fails, I get the message "General Input/Output error with Google Drive".
  The authentication trough though, because I get an email from Google letting
me know there was sign-in from a new device.
  Weirdly,the flatpack from Libre Office is being able to connect correctly.

  Using Ubuntu 17.04, Libreoffice 1:5.3.1
