According to the GNOME project, this is fixed by Xserver 1.19

X .Org Server 1.19 was released on 2016-11-15
1.19.1 was released on 2017-01-11

Can we have the latest version compiled for Ubuntu so it can be tested if this 
is fixed, please?
I expect to find it here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/

  GNOME shell repeats characters or gets them iut of order

  Occasionally in the overview app searcher, LibreOffice Writer and
  possibly other places

  There was a fix for this in 3.17 but it is still present.
