Hi, this looks like a bad relationship between drive and medium.
OPC (Optimum Power Calibration) is preparation stage of burning were the drive makes experiments about the laser settings. The media have an especially reserved data area for that. Those experiments did not yield a satisfying result. So the drive told growisofs (two times) that it cannot deal with this particular medium. There is few hope that a different burn program would bring better results, except by mere luck. You could try other DVD-R media. Sometimes even a different spindle from the same brand can yield better results. But it might well be that the drive has reached the end of its life time. Google finds the drive model "DRX-710UL" discussed already in 2008. How old is yours ? Another (rather remote) possibility is that udisks2 is still groping the drive while growisofs already began to burn. CD-R[W] and DVD-R[W] are more vulnerable to external interference during burns than are DVD+RW or DVD-RAM. To exclude this possibility either disable usdisks2 for your drive or wait after medium insertion until the drive surely has ended blinking (and does not start blinking again after a few seconds of steady light). Have a nice day :) Thomas -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to dvd+rw-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654778 Title: growisofs: INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT error with DVD-Rs Status in dvd+rw-tools package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I can't write data files to a DVD-R disk with growisofs: > growisofs -Z /dev/sr0 -r -J /home/XXX/kdenlive/growfs Executing 'genisoimage -r -J /home/XXX/kdenlive/growfs | builtin_dd of=/dev/sr0 obs=32k seek=0' I: -input-charset not specified, using utf-8 (detected in locale settings) 2.07% done, estimate finish Sat Jan 7 10:58:04 2017 4.14% done, estimate finish Sat Jan 7 10:58:04 2017 6.20% done, estimate finish Sat Jan 7 10:58:04 2017 :-[ PERFORM OPC failed with SK=2h/CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT]: Wrong medium type /dev/sr0: "Current Write Speed" is 4.1x1352KBps. :-[ WRITE@LBA=0h failed with SK=2h/CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT]: Wrong medium type :-( media is not formatted or unsupported. :-( write failed: Wrong medium type I have tried multiple disks in case it's just bad media, but I get this error every time.
