download the package and try it again. The problem may arise if the
package is not downloaded properly.

Title:
  "sh ./hplip-3.16.10.run" prints "Extraction failed."

Status in HPLIP:
  New
Status in hplip package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  `sudo sh ./hplip-3.16.10.run` prints

      > sudo sh ./hplip-3.16.10.run
      Creating directory hplip-3.16.10
      Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing HPLIP 3.16.10 Self Extracting Archive 100% Extraction
failed.

  and returns code 0.

The error message `Extraction failed` is unhelpful because one doesn't
  know what to do next.

A good error message should explain the reason for the failure and
give suggestions how to overcome the reason or work around the
failure. Both are crucial parts of intuitive software which can be
used without unnecessary resouce waisting. Please review other error
messages of this kind and improve them until the next release since
they're part of stable and good software.
