This is because the changes in version 2 are controversial and some people prefer the older version. ** Package changed: fonts-liberation (Ubuntu) => fonts-liberation2 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: fonts-liberation2 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released ** Package changed: fonts-liberation (Debian) => fonts-liberation2 (Debian) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to fonts-liberation in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1196584 Title: Please update package fonts-liberation to version 2.00.1 Status in fonts-liberation2 package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in fonts-liberation2 package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: Hello font people, the newer version is finally under the SIL Open Font License and has much expanded script coverage. Please consider updating the package. The only regression is that Liberation Sans Narrow can't be included for license reasons, so that would have to be extracted from 1.07.
