I could repeat this until the desired location has opened, and then let go of the mouse button and drop the file there. Now, with 16.10 (beta), this behavior is currently not available, which is a huge inconvenience considering how awesome the default behavior in 16.04 was. Hope this will get fixed asap. :) Thanks.
