Issue is not seen in the later versions of ubuntu running later version of thunderbird and pidgin. (Ubuntu 16.04, Thunderbird 45.3.0 Pidgin 2.10.12)

I get a new email. I receive notification as normal, and the icon turns blue. 2. I switch to Evolution and read email Now I expect the notification to clear, but it doesn't. The icon is still blue and it still shows 1 unread message in the Contacts section. I'm using evolution-ews to read email on an Exchange server. Notifications are cleared normally by other apps (like Pidgin).
