Public bug reported: Ubuntu 16.04
Normally using tar with gzip (tar cvzf file.tgz files) will store symlinks, but not follow them, but file-roller follows symlinks and unexpectedly compresses all link targets along with the other data. Please restore file-roller to use the default compression options. ** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625701 Title: file-roller doesn't use gzip/tar default options Status in file-roller package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Ubuntu 16.04 Normally using tar with gzip (tar cvzf file.tgz files) will store symlinks, but not follow them, but file-roller follows symlinks and unexpectedly compresses all link targets along with the other data.
