Ok. It's a Samsung C460FW (standalone colour laser multi). Like I said, 14.04 would see it as soon as I opened xsane. I would be offered the choice of the Samsung or the local Canon. As soon as I moved to 16.04, it no longer sees the local Canon (separate bug), so it would have been nice to have been able to use the Samsung instead, but it is no longer visible. Now I have to start a Windows box to be able to scan.
Incidentally, the Ubuntu box can still use the printer as before. Just cannot scan. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to sane-backends in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1615393 Title: 16.04 sane no longer sees network scanner Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 14.04 used to see and access my Samsung networked scanner. 16.04 doesn't see it. Maybe it's related to the apparently very buggy samba in 16.04? I don't see any windows shares either.
