Title:
sane doesn't recognize Epson DX7450 scanner out of the box
Status in sane-backends package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: sane
Connecting Epson DX7450 device to fresh install of Jaunty/Intrepid/Hardy and
running xsane produces error message: no scanner found.
Found solution here: http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=241481&p=2
Quick fix:
Add following lines at the end of /etc/sane.d/epson.conf
usb 0x4b8 0x838
# And for the scanner module, use the following configuration:
usb /dev/usbscanner0
usb /dev/usb/scanner0
Afterwards, xsane starts and detects the scanner immediately.
I know this is not a big deal bug, but it is annoying for beginners to
solve such problems while it could be just plug-it-in-and-scan way. I
report it in hope that some solution manage it into Karmic Koala :-).
