Title:
Cannot install ubuntu 16.04 with Nvidia GTX 980 Ti

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:

When trying to install ubuntu from the livecd, the following error appears

  nouveau 0000:01:00.0: unknown chipset (120080a1)

  Workaround for install:

It is possible to install ubuntu by choosing "expert mode" and adding the
following kernel parameters:
  nomodeset rdblacklist=nouveau

  Problem:

After the installation is done, on the next reboot the entire screen
is black (well it is nearly black, like the grub background color) and
the fans of the graphic card are in full power. It is not possible to
  boot.
