** Information type changed from Private Security to Public ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1579712 Refresh hangs indefinitely, appstreamcli using 100% CPU -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to appstream in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1583917 Title: appstreamcli stuck at 100% CPU when processing data from xenial backports: Blocking any upgrades! Status in appstream package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: With Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on several of my machines the process "appstreamcli" gets stuck when updating package information, blocking dpkg! This should not happen. At the moment, this blocks any upgrade on the machine if you don't know how to kill that process. I ran "appstreamcli --debug --force refresh" to find that it is the meta-data from the backports repository that causes the problem. Workaround: Deactivate backports repository To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/appstream/+bug/1583917/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
