The usual bullshit again, I'm sick of it. Did you miss the part where i said this used to work on 15.04? Just in case i was not clear about it, that was on the same computer with the same bios. So, it's not a bug in the bios, or in the extremely unlikely event that it is, it can and hence must be worked around, as it worked in previous releases.
I'm not upgrading my bios until Ubuntu will provide an easy and safe way to do so without relying on booting from another OS. There are computers out there with outdated bios, fucking accept that. If you don't drop this retarded policy of ignoring bugs just because they appear on older bioses, Ubuntu will never become a decent usable OS, and we are already finishing the alphabet. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1535452 Title: [15.10 REGRESSION] Builtin laptop display doesn't turn back on when external hdmi monitor is unplugged Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I used to have my display settings so that only one external monitor would be used when available, and the laptop's builtin monitor would be disabled. When plugging and unplugging the external monitor (whether in the VGA or HDMI port), monitors would switch automatically, as is obviously expected. After upgrading from 15.04 to 15.10, as per bug #1535436, these settings were lost, and after reboot, the two monitors were both enabled in extended desktop mode (or whatever it's called). So I went to Settings -> Displays (while I had an HDMI monitor connected), and turned off the builtin display. That worked, but when unplugging the HDMI monitor, the builtin one remains turned off despite being the only available monitor. No matter how many times I plug and unplug the external HDMI monitor, the builtin one never turns on (the external one does work). This is a HUGE regression as it may leave you without screen. By plugging a monitor via the VGA port, it works as expected. I'm testing with the same monitors and cables (and computer) as I was using in 15.04 when everything worked fine.
