That appears to have fixed it, really sorry for making this report without first checking the BIOS!

It looks like the screen is painted several times over eachother, and when transitioning to another sub-window the previous windows elements are still on the screen. I've filed this under X due to the errors I get in the console (and the fact it happens on multiple different programs). I've had this occur on the compiz settings manager (ccsm) and Virtualbox. Restarting the process fixes the issue, but it appears to randomly trigger and to occur from the application start. When using Virtualbox I get this error in the console: Qt WARNING: X Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) 9 Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea) Resource id: 0x0 ✗ sudo lshw -c video *-display description: VGA compatible controller product: Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller vendor: Intel Corporation physical id: 2 bus info: pci@0000:00:02.0 version: 0b width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: msi pm vga_controller bus_master cap_list rom configuration: driver=i915 latency=0 resources: irq:45 memory:f7800000-f7bfffff memory:e0000000-efffffff ioport:f000(size=64) Description: Ubuntu 15.10 Release: 15.10 xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 Candidate: 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ wily/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: xorg 1:7.7+7ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-18.22-generic 4.2.3 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-18-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: fsck from util-linux 2.26.2 /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root: clean, 509881/30203904 files, 30823982/120793088 blocks CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Mon Nov 23 13:46:53 2015 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: wily DistroVariant: ubuntu EcryptfsInUse: Yes ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Haswell-ULT Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0a16] (rev 0b) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:05cb] InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-11-16 (7 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) MachineType: Dell Inc.
