It's seem that the softwares (vnc client) cannot provide the authentication mechanism requested by Ubuntu 14.04( or higher versions ).
Not only "OSX Maverickss Sreen Sharing" has this issue, bu also others does: vnc viewer( android and ios ) and other vnc viewer softwares... They can not " provide the authentication mechanism". Just unchecking "require-encryption" is unsafe. Because My ubuntu is exposured to internet... Is there a "best of both worlds" ways to resolve this problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to vino in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307084 Title: Vino doesn't work from OSX Mavericks Screen Sharing on Ubuntu 14.04 Status in GNOME Remote Desktop: New Status in vino package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: After upgrading to 14.04 from 13.10 VNC stopped working from Mac OSX Screen sharing application. At first I thought it was related to issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vino/+bug/1290666 . But that makes other VNC clients such as TightVNC working but issue with OSX Screen Sharing still exists, maybe it is because it uses fairly old protocol.
