@zds: Making it a profile-level setting could lead to another pretty annoying misleading behavior, e.g. you have two tabs, Alt+2 switches from the 1st to the 2nd, but then Alt+1 doesn't switch back. There's a good reason hotkeys are global, not per-profile.
@laney: I wasn't the one pushing for this change, apparently the main developer doesn't show any interest in changing this. I have no idea what could be done to improve the situation, and whether it needs improvement at all. The issue has been discussed on several forums by now, I believe everyone who uses IRC is power user enough that they can type this question into whichever search engine and find the answer. Software keep changing by little bits like this one over time and you need to get used to minor changes quite often. I don't see this one being a bigger deal than the average UI change. Am I missing something? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1431371 Title: Left Alt + <num> is not passed to irssi in terminal when in GUI Status in gnome-terminal package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Running Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch) last updated 2015-03-12 14:45 1) Log onto system in graphical mode. 2) Start a terminal, for me gnome-terminal. 3) Start irssi. 4) Make several windows in irssi. 5) Try to use left Alt + window number to change window. Expected to be able to change between windows, outcome is that no action is performed. This has worked fine through all previous Ubuntu releases. It also works fine if I change to text console (Ctrl + Alt + F1) and do the same steps. Any pointers in how to debug this further?
