The issue is that the new version has UI issues under non gnome-shell
environments, not sure if we can update...

Bug description:
The Shotwell sidebar cannot be resized properly. It is not possible to
drag the sidebar smaller than the longest entry of the latest month in
the "events" section, please compare the attached screenshot. I used
"test----------------->" as an example entry to demonstrate the bug.
