Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is no longer supported, do you still have this problem on
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS or higher?
Please upload the updated logs by running apport-collect -p cups 916895 and
provide

see whether inkscape or the printing subsystem is causing this problem.

i'm using inkscape 0.47-2, the official version in the ubuntu
repositories.
1. pages are printed out as a solid black image, that is, the entire page is
black
2. lines drawn with the calligraphic pen and lines drawn off horizontal and
off vertical are seen in print preview and PDF files as a thick bar
