This kind of devices were initially available to Linux users trough installation of Samsung own drivers, however recent ubuntu releases got able to plug-and-play them, both for printing and scanning (e.g. with simple-scan). While scx4200 or scx4300 still works in this way, on my Ubuntu 12.04 the Samsung scx4100 is no longer available as scanner (but it still plug-and-play as printer). As scx4100 for best of my knowledge is tecnically pretty the same as the other cited printers/scanners of the serie, I guess it just miss entry in some sort of "supported devices" list. I am available for further informations if needed. Kind regards and thank you.
