Public bug reported: In Ubuntu Unity Desktop 14.04, mouse and keyboard events are sometimes leaking through to underlying windows.
I've only noticed this behavior in conjunction with Remmina. I cannot provide a sure way to reproduce this, because it only happens to me about once a week. But, in Generally, I'll will have a Remmina RDP Remote desktop maximized (not full-screen, just maximized and scaled) on one of my monitors, and then I may open Firefox, or any other program (maximized) in front of the Remmina remote desktop window. In the other application (not Remmina) I will notice that my keyboard and mouse clicks seem to no longer be having an effect on the front window (I'm mousing and keying on). When I finally switch back to Remmina, I see that my keyboard inputs have actually been going through to Remmina (instead of the front window I was actually attempting to interact with). This is a serious bug, because I've actually modified code files in a remote desktop, while interacting with a totally different application window. This bug breaks window encapsulation. After I discover this, I can then make it stop by switching to Remmina (bring it to the top of the "window stack") and then explicitly minimize it. After this the behavior will stop. So the bottom line is, that, sometimes keyboard and mouse events leak through the top window (of another application) into Remmina, if Remmina is behind the top window (of another application). ** Affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: remmina (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: trusty ** Also affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to remmina in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1406818 Title: Mouse/Keyboard Events Are Leaking Through Windows into Others Status in Unity: New Status in remmina package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: In Ubuntu Unity Desktop 14.04, mouse and keyboard events are sometimes leaking through to underlying windows.
