Then launch customize look and feel under prefrences in switch the widget to clearlooks. Then open software updater and have and notice if it finds updates to try and expand the detail on those updates you will not see the small triangle widget to expand it. Now in customize look and feel in the menu switch back to the default lubuntu in the menu and notice that the widgets reappear.
