** Description changed: After upgrading to 14.10 I can no longer connect to any wifi network that has WPA authentication regardless of the wifi adapter used (built in BCM4331 and USB dongle RTL8188C). The same setup was working fine before the upgrade. I am able to connect to open networks, which I tested by tethering to a wifi hotspot on my phone. USB tethering also works. I have confirmed that the wifi password is correct and have even removed and added the network. THis is on a 2012 Mac Mini. Expected behaviour: The wifi adapter should have connected to my network Actual behaviour: The wifi adapter is not able to connect. 'dmesg' is full of the following error messages: [53173.494849] wlan0: authenticate with 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 [53173.501930] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 1/3) [53173.705568] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 2/3) [53173.909450] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 3/3) [53174.113404] wlan0: authentication with 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 timed out [53185.353644] wlan0: authenticate with 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 [53185.371975] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 1/3) [53185.575432] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 2/3) [53185.779307] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 3/3) [53185.983204] wlan0: authentication with 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 timed out [53201.473166] wlan0: authenticate with 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 [53201.473429] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 1/3) [53201.675127] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 2/3) [53201.878976] wlan0: direct probe to 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 (try 3/3) [53202.082908] wlan0: authentication with 28:cf:da:b0:1c:83 timed out $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 14.10 Release: 14.10 Every 1.0s: iwconfig wlan0; ifconfig wlan0; route -n; echo; (grep wlan0: /var/log/syslog | tail -n 10 | sort -r); echo; ping -I wlan0...
