Went from 1204 which worked fine, to 1404, which is broken.  No grid
lines!

  Upgraded to 13.04 frpm 12.10

  Started Gnome Mines, choose standard game 16x16, game started, but no
  grid displayed. When a square is clicked its grid apperas, as do clean
  neighbouring squares.
