Same here, running Ubuntu 14.04 64bit edition and System Monitor Network History is always zero even if large amounts of network traffic are flowing. This is a fresh upgrade from 12.04. It was broken in 12.04 as well and I had hoped that upgrading would fix the issue. It did not!
