Hey, I had similar problems with random freezes after upgrade Xubuntu from 13.10 to 14.04. on my Desktop PC (Acer Aspire 3100). Distro: Ubuntu 3.13.0-24.46-generic 3.13.9.
First I thought that the problem causes Xorg, but then I changed my driver from 331 to 304. With 319 there where the same problems.
