Title:
No headphone sound after upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 from to 10.10 I've lost sound in my
headphones output. I'm using a 64-bit Thinkpad T400s. Sound from
internal speakers works fine, but when plugging in headphones I get no
sound at all. I've gone through the steps in
  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure, but
to no avail. The output of Steps 3 and 4 are included in the attached
  file.
