It is not related to the bug you linked to. The mtpz message is just a warning. In your case the embedded album art plugin is causing the issue.

Running it from the terminal I got this traceback. (rhythmbox:12839): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: Custom constructor for class SoupServer returned NULL (which is invalid). Unable to remove object from construction_objects list, so memory was probably just leaked. Please use GInitable instead. Unable to open ~/.mtpz-data for reading, MTPZ disabled.Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/artsearch/embedded.py", line 38, in discovered_cb (found, sample) = tags.get_sample(tagname) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'get_sample' Seems like it might be related to this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1242806 (Dunno if this is relevant, but just prior I was having some issues with Rhythmbox not able to open /run/user/1000/pulse when trying to play a song. I fixed that by taking the ownership of that directory.)
