Public bug reported: Sometimes in 14.04 I don't have any audible sound. Checking volume applet > Sound Settings I can see that output is set to S/PDIF. Even though the audio previously was through HDMI. Switching it back to HDMI makes the sound audible again.
I have no speakers connected either through analog or S/PDIF. Only HDMI. After initial install, it was set to HDMI. Why does this happen automatically?
