*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1282304 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1282304
This is addressed in compiz 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140303-0ubuntu1 (per bug 1282304), though that introduces its own problem. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1282304 Bottom-edge window placement doesn't take decoration height into consideration -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to compiz in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1287427 Title: new windows initially placed partly outside workspace Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Ubuntu 14.04 Trusty, compiz 1:0.9.11+14.04.20140218-0ubuntu1. Four workspaces configured in a 2x2 grid. To reproduce: Start several applications with non-fullscreen windows, e.g. gnome-terminal. Once there are several of these windows, compiz will create new ones overlapping existing windows. Expected result: All windows not larger than the workspace should be placed entirely within the workspace, as in Ubuntu 13.10. Problem: New overlapping windows' lower and right borders will be beyond the lower and right edges of the workspace. This hides parts of the windows and messes with Alt+Tab in other workspaces. Cause: Windows are being placed up to 2 pixels too far to the right and 29 pixels too far down. This corresponds to the size of the window border: 1 pixel left, right, and bottom, and 28 pixels top. So it looks like the positioning code is not taking into account the border when placing the windows.
