I've taken a look at the LightDM bugs page. This bug has been reported there as https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1277386 I've confirmed it, but as it was reported by someone running Trusty, I'm not convinced it is an upstream bug. There seems to be no other reference to this problem in LightDM.
