Robert Simmons, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Logout in Kubuntu ends with black screen

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
With a fresh install of Kubuntu 11.10 and all packages up to date,
after you logout, you get a black screen. You can mouse over the
username and password fields and enter your password again and login,
but the screen remains black. From there the only choice is to
  reboot.

The only workaround is to set the variable Terminate-server = true in
  kdmrc.

Here's my video card info from lspci:

Specifically, it is a Radeon HD 6670 by XFX.

  Here is uname -a

  Linux box 3.0.0-15-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 2 17:44:42 UTC 2012
  x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
