Actually the X will not start and there is no login screen available, only black screen. Login from tty1 is of course possible, but startx will not work. I have tested this with gnome-shell and gdm with both trusty official versions and the versions in the Gnome3 Staging PPA (trusty branch). Also, I have tested this with ATI open source drivers and NVidia proprietary drivers. None of these work. Downgrading back to the version acoountsservice 0.6.35-0ubuntu2 helps and desktop is fine again.
