You have been subscribed to a public bug: After upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10, I observe the following problem:
While running the gnome desktop, gnome programs started on a remote X11 server do not accept keyboard input from the remote server. Steps to reproduce: 1) Log into your gnome desktop 2) Start another X11 server, either on a different machine or, for simplicity, with 'Xephyr :1' (servers started differently may additionally require 'xhost +') 3) Start a gnome application that accepts keyboard input, e.g. 'env DISPLAY=localhost:1 gnome-terminal' 4) The program appears on the other X11-server, mouse can be used, but any keyboard input is ignored! 5) To verify that this is a gnome problem, start a non-gnome-based program, e.g. 'env DISPLAY=localhost:1 xterm'. Keyboard input works as expected. 6) To verify that is related to having a running gnome-session (and not to configuration files), ssh to another account, start gnome based program there just like described above, keyboard input works fine. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Keyboard doesn't work when starting gnome programs on remote X11 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1258486 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
