Title:
Cannot mirror display output between primary and secondary display
Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
I'm using LATITUDE E5510 laptop, on ubuntu 12.04 LTS
On gnome-control-center display, application properly shows maximal
resolution, that works on my machine (1600x900).
Resolutions detected on primary display includes only one resolution
(1600x900).
When I plug secondary monitor, with different resolutions set supported, I
cannot enable display mirroring (this option is greyed out). In secondary
monitor, I can use few different resolutions.
I was able to work-around this problem, by simple adding resolution to eDP1
screen (primary display) with xrandr tool.
xrandr --addmode eDP1 "1280x1024"
After that, I was able to change resolution at gnome-control-center display
applet to "1280x1024" on my primary display, and I was able to use mirroring
feature. (both devices switched to 1280x1024 resultion).
It's not a critical problem for me (since my workaround works for me), but I
think that fixing this issue can improve overall user experience.
If requested, I can provide lshw output (or other).
