Title:
gnome-control-center crashed with signal 5 in _XReply()

Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Whenever I login, I get a floating gnome search panel, which asks
"Type To Search". It continues to remain on the desktop, which I tried
to close it, but have no clue how to close it. Whatever applications
may be used, the search box floats above them, making things
difficult to work on. Please suggest what should be done to close this
  floating gnome search panel.
