Me too experiencing the problems when I'm trying to open a minimized window sometimes... I've re-installed my Ubuntu on some issues but again it is showing up...

If now you click on it's icon in the unity panel to display the window again, the browser opens a NEW window displaying the home directory. This happens only when a directory external to the root drive is opened initially. Also, the problem is resolved if the 'Files' icon is not docked on the launcher.
