Hi there! So, I'm having a hard time with the same bug as well. I've tried several linux versions with no success. Here's the list:
- Mint 10, 12, 13 (amd64); - Ubuntu 10.04 , 11.04, 11.10, 12.04 (x86 & amd64), 12.10; - Kubuntu 12.04 (x86 & amd64); - Lubuntu 12.04 (x86 & amd64) - this particular one crashes while loading systems files after a fresh install. It keeps logging me out randomly even with the open source drivers. Installing legacy drivers from AMD's doesn't help. Here's my desktop's specs: AMD Athlon II x4 3.0Ghz | 4GB-RAM | Sapphire ATi HD4830 512MB | 3 Maxtor HDD 40, 80 and 160GB. I thought it was the HD4830 causing this bug but reading this forum page it turns out to happens with some nVidia fellows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995294 Title: Session end (back to login screen) on apport unhandled exception Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The problems is stated and detailed in this link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11909461 There's the full ubuntuforums's thread for further details. I'll let just a few words about it here. I have an unstable system after upgrading from 10.04 to 12.04. On undetermined conditions, my system abruptly logs out and it is showed to me again the login screen: no warnings, no error messages. This all happens in an instant: one second i'm working, the next one there's the login screen. After logging in again, all my work is lost, all programs were automaticaly closed. The only time-matching problem i've found in the logs is in "apport.log": recurrent unhandled exceptions at exactly the same time my system logs out.
