Further information - the following is generally what I always see: 1) Double-click on desktop shortcut, Calc opens with empty spreadsheet 2) Trying to open the file using the shortcut filename, i.e. /home/username/Desktop/filename.ods from the Recent Documents list will not open the file 3) Trying to then open the file using its full name, i.e. /home/username/Documents/filename.ods from the Recent Documents list will open file in a new program window but I also see that in the first program window it is not possible to close the empty spreadsheet using the "x" in the top-right corner as the "x" isn't now displayed.
But if I omit step 2 file opens in the existing Calc window as it should when using the Recent Documents list Further information to follow as I find it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/849508 Title: [Upstream] Double clicking on .ods file opens Calc but does not load file Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite: Confirmed Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Double clicking on a (desktop) .ods file icon opens Calc but does not load the .ods file it just opens Calc. I've experienced this with LO 3.42 and now LO 3.43 which was released today. Using KDE 4.71, fully updated. Various web searches have found a forum post that suggested deleting the .libreoffice directory. That didn't solve the problem here. By the way, opening .odt files this way opens Writer and the .odt file correctly.
