I have tested my modem in two different machines with fresh installs of ubuntu 12.04 and the result was the same in both of them. Here is the output of dmesg for the device : [ 249.143605] usb 1-1.1: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd [ 249.298240] Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... Sense: No additional sense information I attached usb-modeswitch log for more information, as I can see in file, modeswitch falls in a loop searching for the device. I have tested the modem too in fedora 16 and chakra linux updated to last version, the usb modem works fine, that lets me think its an ubuntu related bug. I can provide more info if you need.
