I may be having this same problem but currently unsure as it seems to be tied to Skype use for me, although this might just be a coincidence - my computer is rarely heavily loaded. It was the fact that the other terminals still work that's made me this this is the same issue that I'm having.
* GUI becomes non-responsive (no hovering changes, clicking, scrolling etc). * Video freezes (in Skype) * Sound and microphone continues to work normally (in Skype) * Mouse still moves (clicks don't work) * Keyboard doesn't work, except to switch terminals * Text terminals appear to work normally * Computer doesn't appear to be busy after the freeze (I didn't check CPU, but terminal is responsive and there's no disk thrashing) * Restarting lightdm has worked once, but display didn't wake-up after its next sleep - direct power-off required. * Reboot required to get PC working normally again. * Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit (3.8.0-23-generic) Does this stack up with the other experiences? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1184451 Title: Ubuntu 13.10 random screen freeze while Normal OS activites Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have recently, re-installed fresh ubuntu 13.10 distribution release.
